When you are
connected to our mail server with Outlook Express and have a large e-mail,
Outlook Express may time out and disconnect. This can be very frustrating
when sending and receiving mail. The default timeout setting for Outlook
Express is one minute. If you are receiving a large volume of mail,or
one message with a huge attachment, you will time out after one minute.
| The
following steps will show you how to change this setting: |
| |
- Open Outlook Express.
- Click Tools, then
Accounts.
The Internet Accounts window will appear.
- Click on the Mail
tab, then on your account.
- Click on the Properties
button.
The mail properties window will appear.
- Click on the Advanced
tab.
Midway down the page you will find a section
labeled Server Time-outs. It will show a gray bar to the left,
and will read 1 minute.
- Click on the bar
and slide it to the right.
The timeout value can be set for up to 5 minutes.
- Click Apply, then
Okay, then close.
Outlook Express is now set to handle a much
larger volume of email now.
